Bachelor’s Degree
3 years in public or corporate accounting
Experience with ERP and knowledge of GAAP
Staff Accountant experience
Detail oriented – no room for error

CPA – would be AMAZING
Big 4 – would be AMAZING

Job Description:
We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in South San Francisco focused on the development of neuronal cell-based therapies for neurological diseases. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who has a passion for accounting and process improvements. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small team, and take part in building an exciting, science-driven company. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations.


  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Oversee multiple General Ledger accounts, including cash, fixed assets, prepaids, accrued liabilities
  • Manage general accrual entries through collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Assist in the preparation of audit support and documentation
  • Participate in continuous process improvements
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects, as assigned
  • Work with Procurement and Accounts Payable to ensure proper coding of purchase orders and invoices

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration; CPA is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting or in a corporate accounting role; Big 4 experience preferred
  • Experience with Accounting/ERP systems and procurement systems (Point Purchasing or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be hands-on while working within fast-paced timelines and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as cross-functionally with teams across the organization
  • Strong organizational skill and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external business partners
  • Willingness to learn and expand skill set; contribute to emerging needs in a highly dynamic start-up environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong team player and problem-solver, able to work with teams and independently
