Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the VP of Finance is a detail oriented, experienced financial professional with a passion for best practices in forecasting and financial reporting. The VP of Finance will be responsible for all aspects of the financial planning, forecasting, and reporting in partnership with the accounting function led by the company’s Controller. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation of accounting and finance experience and proven success in building a state-of-the-art team by setting up the right processes and systems needed to support their growth, including experience with a variety of financial planning and reporting tools and expert knowledge in a consumer goods or inventory-driven business. The candidate will operate with a no-ego driven approach to building strong relationships within the business to support a fluid and responsive, forward-looking, and financially responsible business.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
? In the interim role, the VP of Finance will focus on establishing the day to day cadence of the FP&A team, partnering with the accounting team to support the monthly financial close.
? Mentor the existing FP&A team (3 Sr. Financial Analysts), providing thought partnership, best practices experience and management oversight of forecasting and reporting activities.
? Expand existing processes supporting financial statement review, expanding current reporting and commentary to support results; reducing analytical work currently provided by the CFO.
? Maintain a monthly rolling forecast model, improving underlying assumption accuracy based on actual results.
? Drive annual plan process with supporting meetings, templates and total roll up of forecasted P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
? Support long range plan as necessary.
? Implement best practices in FP&A to maintain fast and accurate financial reporting cycles within a strong internal control environment.
? Support a multi-channel fast growing business, partnering with leaders within the business to align channel and departmental reporting with strategic plans and budgets/forecasts.
? Create fluid, accurate and detailed financial forecasts, explaining variances in performance against plan and previous forecast.
? Hold the management team accountable for budgets they control.
? Optimize cash flow and cash management through a tight collaboration with our customer and supplier facing teams.
? Other duties as assigned.
Educational/ Position Requirements:
? A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
? MBA and/or CPA.
? 15+ years’ experience in progressive finance roles.
? Technical and comprehensive knowledge of all finance, financial planning, accounting, and tax areas of a business, including GAAP and internal controls.
? Proactive communicator, comfortable with having the hard conversation with a consensus focused approach.
? Retail/direct to consumer experience is strongly preferred.
? Be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, capable of taking ownership of projects/matters.
? A strong desire to assume a wide variety of responsibilities, be flexible and grow.
? Possess the ability to work on several projects at once while balancing competing objectives.
? Produce high-quality work product in a timely manner to meet demands.
? Be confident and have strong interpersonal skills.
? Work well both independently and as a team player.
