This role is an exciting opportunity to join a growing accounting team at a world class management consulting firm. The Senior Accountant, Global Consolidations will help the Global Financial Accounting team to function more effectively through a focus on processes and operations as it relates to US GAAP standards. This role requires excellent project management and process skills, and excellent collaboration skills (including with global, senior stakeholders).



Emergent Accounting Trends

· As the firm’s strategy expands to include more software development, lead and manage the proper accounting for software and SaaS related topics, such as capitalization of software development.

o Work with internal IT as well as internal solution case teams to understand current software development projects.

§ For all projects identified, record software development capitalization in accordance with US GAAP standards.

o Design and execute a standard Global policy and procedure for all software development capitalization.

o Create best practices for software capitalization and revenue recognition.

§ Effectively communicate these best practices to internal IT as well as internal solution case teams.

§ Constantly monitor the status of all software development projects by creating a workplan that will detail communication channels between Global Accounting and the respective teams.

o Lead trainings for internal IT, internal solution case teams, Global Accounting and local offices on any changes to revised software accounting standards.

§ Identify process improvements with adherence to new standards.

US GAAP Reporting Compliance

· Lead the proactive adoption of new reporting arising from changes in US GAAP standards.

o Align the accounting needs of global reporting and local statutory requirements, ensuring compliance both with internal policies and procedures and US GAAP.

· Prepare technical position memoranda to support accounting positions taken.

· Provide necessary communication to international controllers and accounting teams, including accounting teams from recent acquisitions, for proper accounting procedures in all relevant areas (depending on the project specifics) and provide instructions to ensure proper record keeping in the global general ledger.

o Collaborate closely with the local office accounting/finance teams, the mergers & acquisitions team, and the SAP support team to design and develop processes.

o Ensure that the process is efficient, effective and scalable.

· Represent the Global Financial Accounting team as a highly visible customer service representative, responding to inquiries from international controllers, local office accounting/finance teams, cost center managers etc.

o Support an effective distribution of knowledge to all international controllers and local office accounting/finance teams

Accounting Policy Improvement

· Evaluate and update internal policies.

· Effectively communicate all global policies across all relevant finance departments.

· Work with local offices to ensure they are implementing and following the global policy guidelines.

· Perform ad-hoc duties and projects as assigned or responsibilities dictate.

· Support external audit requests and inquiries and assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.



· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.

· Certified Public Accountant highly preferred.


· 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience.

o Public accounting experience preferred.

· Experience with software development and/or software revenue recognition.

· Experience working in a co-located, global environment.

· Experience with global policy documents and ensuring compliance across all local finance departments.


· Strong technical accounting knowledge of US GAAP.

o Knowledge of IFRS is a plus.

· Applied knowledge of ASC 606 software revenue recognition.

· Knowledge of computer information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.

· Exemplary Microsoft Office skills.

o SAP experience preferred.

· Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to logically structure problems using a hypothesis driven approach.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to adapt oral communication style to varied audiences.

· Flexible and adaptable to change.

· Ability to prioritize time and tasks according to business needs and value.

o Ability to avoid low-value firefighting in order to hit long-term goals and objectives.

· An ethical individual that acts with high levels of integrity at all times.
