Job Summary/Description:

Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter reporting into the FP&A team with life science pharmaceutical company experience, whose key role and responsibilities will be managing and leading the financial business partnership with our Corporate Development team.  Corporate Development and strategic function that encompasses strategy, portfolio management, business development and licensing.  The Manager will also be working closely with cross functional partners such as Commercial operations, Technical operations and R&D functions to develop and present clear analysis and financial decision support to our various stakeholders through financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting and accounting for various projects (i.e. M&A, in-licensing, pipeline assessments, process improvement, etc..). Such analysis would include metrics in terms of return on investment, IRR, return on capital employed, and other relevant financial metrics.  This role has one direct report, a Strategic Financial Analyst. Our ideal candidate would also want to grow within our organization.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
•    Collect and prepare comprehensive, accurate and timely financial models and analyses in support of deals, portfolio projects, and investment opportunities under tight deadlines; create financial models incorporating externally-validated research and analysis that shows leading indicators and key business projections and results
•    Professionally interact and present to senior management and executives (including CEO and CFO) across the entire transaction lifecycle, with an emphasis on financial projections and their impact to the financial statements, investment and return metrics (IRR, NPV, ROIC), and other relevant financial metrics as needed 
•    Routinely support evaluation of business development, portfolio, and pipeline opportunities using industry and financial data sources to develop and validate key assumptions
•    Key contributor of financial analysis and presentation materials for the company’s Portfolio Committee 
•    Manage the quarterly forecasting/ budgeting of the Corporate Development revenues and functional expenses within the Planful tool; Coordinate and lead the function’s annual Budgeting process and collaborate on the Functional Area Review analysis and presentation materials
•    Oversee the monthly expense accrual and month end financial close processes for the function, generate monthly financial reporting packages (actual vs budget/forecast and vs prior historical periods); present monthly financial analysis and trends at monthly CFO Finance Trend reviews and monthly functional Financial results; prepare ad hoc analysis and reports 
•    Support Finance & Accounting team’s facilitation of cross-functional implementation of new or improved processes/systems for all related financial systems critical to core organizational functions
•    Help create executive and Board of Directors level presentations
•    Manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
•    Develop and maintain relationships with various levels of personnel
•    Engage with functional leaders to gather inputs
•    Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as required
•    Assist as needed with building and maintaining dashboards and weekly/monthly reports for portfolio projects and deals under consideration.
•    Complete all company-based and job-related training as assigned within the required timeline
•    Challenge processes and the status quo to drive improvements

Job Requirements
•    BA/BS degree in Finance or equivalent. MBA and/or CPA certification preferred, not required.
•    Minimum years of experience: 7+
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to provide meaningful analysis (toggles, project & deal scenarios).
•    Professional consulting, investment banking, corporate finance or related M&A experience-healthcare preferred.
•    Pharmaceutical financial modeling and deal analysis experience required
•    Experience with risk adjustments as applied to investment decisions; discount rates, probability of technical and regulatory success, etc.   
•    Demonstrate strong business acumen.
•    Effective presentation skills.
•    Technical expertise in finance, budgeting, and forecasting.
•    Knowledge of financial statement analysis (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) and reporting.
•    Ability to build and maintain financial models.
•    Feel comfortable challenging business partners and make recommendations.
•    Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
•    Roll up the sleeves attitude and demonstrates strong attention to detail.
•    Must have excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
•    Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals across all levels.
