Job Summary/Description:
The role will seek to improve the service delivered by the Finance department, both internally (e.g. ensuring accurate financial reporting, region / group business management understanding of cost and revenue streams) and externally (e.g. prompt resolution of regulatory reporting deliverables / queries, referral partner payment queries, point of contact for Auditors / external accountants).
Role Requirements
Month-end Close / MC US Inc. Entity Accounting
- Take ownership of the monthly general ledger postings for the North America business including accruals, prepayments, payroll, etc. in conjunction with Group
- Financial Control team
- Prepare the NA monthly reporting pack for Region & Group reporting purposes, including key movement/variance analyses
- Produce reconciliation of accounting ledger to bank accounts
- Identify, lead, and assist in process improvements / automation
General Ledger
- Maintain and prepare reconciliations over relevant balance sheet accounts
- Ensure the accuracy and alignment of both legal entity reporting and internal divisional reporting
- Act as the key point of contact between back office and Finance (including offering accounting advice on the processing of non-standard cash flows)
Reporting & Audit
- Provide financial information to business stakeholders (both internal and external) to assist in the preparation of reporting in line with local regulations
- Prepare of the MC US Inc. legal entity annual financial statements
- Lead point of contact in addressing audit queries and deliverable requests
- Lead Regulatory reporting, acting as point of contact for exam processes, alongside NA FD
- Maintain Permissible investment calculations in conjunction with NA Compliance and Group Treasury
Team Management
- Responsibility for setting direction, monitoring work and quality of output for self and team; heavy influence to other aspects of NA Finance team.
Other Duties
- Assistance where required with preparation of annual budget and forecasts
- Provision of ad-hoc analysis to Divisional Heads, Executive Team and Board
- Assistance in group-wide project work
- Ad hoc duties as required
Knowledge And Experience
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- In-depth understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Material experience with general ledger oversight and the month-end/year-end close process
- Experience with accounting systems (SUN experience is an advantage)
- 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting field desired
- Financial services experience preferred
