The Senior Manager of Project Accounting will oversee a team of 12 who are collectively responsible for the interpretation of the financial terms associated with client contracts, establishing new contracts and projects within the ERP that drive accurate revenue recognition, timely invoicing and cash receipts and the collection of costs at the project level. The work of the team includes the calculation of revenue accruals, deferred revenue, AR Trade receivables and reserve entries, as well as preparing monthly account reconciliations, supporting the annual financial statement audit, and reporting to various stakeholders. This individual will work closely with the Managing Director, Accounting, the Senior Director, Accounting Operations, the Controller and the Director, Financial Systems, to ensure technical accounting standards are met, internal controls are sufficient, and effective technology solutions are implemented. This position requires knowledge of Cambridge Associates’ service offerings and fee schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES
o Oversee the invoicing of all active contracts in accordance with contract terms
o Oversee the monthly revenue recognition process
o Oversee the calculation of monthly revenue for each active contract
o Oversee the monthly closing process for the subledgers, including preparation of journal entries o Oversee the monthly account reconciliations and preparation of adjusting entries across 7 business units
o Design, implement and enforce policies and procedures for the company's billing and revenue cycle
o Analyze WIP, revenue, accrued and deferred revenue on a monthly basis
o Oversee the setup of all new contracts and the maintenance of existing contracts to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and revenue recognition
o Manage and mentor a team of 12, including goal-setting, performance reviews and career development for direct reports
o Seek to enhance processes to ensure accuracy, completeness and timely reporting o Liaise with Global Business Development, Legal and Client Onboarding Team to ensure contract terms are accurately interpreted for purposes of billing, revenue recognition and financial statement reporting.
o Partner with Financial Planning and Analysis and the Accounting and Finance Extended Leadership teams to provide reporting and analytics
o Maintain procedural documentation specific to the role
o Participate in the annual audit of the corporate financial statements
o Identify and communicate monthly variances for revenue, billing and cash receipts compared to prior month and budget
o Actively participate in P&L reviews
o Utilize effective listening skills to understand project requests and implement creative solutions to support project requests as well as identify and communicate issues in an effective manner to Management and Project Managers
o Maintain detailed schedules of unbilled receivables
o Consolidate and report financial information for all Business Units
QUALIFICATIONS
o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with 10+ years of relevant experience
o 4+ years of supervisory experience
o Working knowledge of Oracle Fusion/Oracle or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool o Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products
o Proven communication skills both written and verbal
o Strong organizational and administrative skills
o Ability to effectively interact with teams across the organization and individuals at all levels
o Keen attention to detail
o Experience in Financial or Professional Service industry is a plus
