Operations Specialist

Location: New York, NY (remote until office opens, must be local)
Hours: M-F; 8hrs/day – 40hrs/wk

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent job-related experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
Preferred:
- At least 6 months of operations experience in financial services
- Foreign Exchange operations experience
- Derivatives experience
Job Description/Summary:
The Operations Intermediate Specialist – FX Settlements is responsible for Settlements within Foreign Exchange Services, ensuring that all trades executed with client's FX trading desk are settled in a timely and accurate manner on value date.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring timely settlement of FX trades executed through various FX trading desks and platforms
- Developing knowledge of FX trade-related SWIFT messages and fields required for FX transaction confirmation and payments
- Ensuring accurate settlement of FX trades per Standard Settlement Instructions (SSI) provided by client's clients and counterparties
- Verifying FX transaction instructions to be released on value date
- Escalating trade discrepancies to FX trade initiation and management team, when appropriate
- Seeking out and exploiting opportunities to improve post-execution processes, either through automation or procedural revision
- Accurate and timely settlements of transactions in the bilateral netting system
- Responsible for monitoring swift repair queue
- Responsible for monitoring and responding to queries in the FX OFAC queue
- Validate currency settlements instructions for custody, third party and inter-bank counterparties
Skills/Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree
- 6 to 12 months Foreign Exchange Operations, Derivatives or related Financial Services experience preferred but not essential
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize volume
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Proactive approach to daily work and ability to handle multiple responsibilities
- Ability to communicate professionally with others
- Strong client service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- MS Office proficiency required-included MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access
