The General Accounting Manager will be initially responsible for supporting the Senior Manager of General Accounting during the set-up of our Mexican subsidiary.  During this support role period, the person will be tasked with learning and becoming acclimated with the Princess House business and the various systems that are currently used.  This person will then assume the lead accounting position for the Mexican entity and will be charged with leading subsequent foreign country entry and set-up.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Review and approve daily, weekly and monthly journal entries of domestic entity.

 

  • Review and approve freight invoices of the domestic entity.

 

  • Review and sign off on Bank Reconciliations, Fixed Assets Reconciliation, Inventory In-transit Reconciliation, and Received not Vouchered Reconciliation.

 

  • Assist in the Review and Close of the Domestic Monthly Financial Statements.

 

  • Assist in the set-up of the Foreign Subsidiary.  Train and take over the monthly Financial Close of the Foreign Subsidiary.

 

  • Assist in the development and testing of system integrations used by the Foreign Subsidiary including:  Sales Order, Commission, Banking (including Credit Card Processing) and Payment Systems.

 

  • Document system processes of the new Foreign Subsidiary and train staff on these processes.

 

  • Work with Cost Accounting on intercompany transfer of inventory transaction processing.

 

  • Assist in development of month end closing process of Foreign Subsidiary.  Document and train others on these processes.

 

  • Work with outside accountants on the Financial Statement Formatting set-up for Foreign Subsidiary needed to support required monthly statutory reporting to the Mexican Government. 

 

  • Prepares and provides support to staff on their reconciliations and analysis of various financial accounts.

 

  • Prepares and provides support to staff on the preparation of budget schedules.

 

  • Works with outside auditors and prepares various analysis of the income statement and balance sheet.  Supervises staff in the preparation of lead schedules, roll-forward analysis and revenue testing supporting documentation.

 

  • Acts as a liaison with banks to ensure compliance and resolve problems concerning our bank accounts or credit card processing.

 

  • Supervises the preparation of schedules for the Corporate tax return of the Foreign Subsidiary (i.e. interest income, miscellaneous and royalty income, interest expense, and gain/loss on sale of asset(s), etc.).

 

  • Trains staff throughout the organization on new business processes.

 

  • Other duties as may be assigned
     

EDUCATION, TRAINING and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent, plus (5) years of related domestic and international experience.  Associate’s degree in related field plus a minimum of seven (7) years’ domestic and international experience.  Must possess a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity overseeing the operations of exempt and non-exempt employees.  Must possess a strong working knowledge of GAAP and International Accounting Standards and exchange rates.  Ability to read and speak Spanish is a plus.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, and/or LICENSES:

Advanced Excel skills will be required.  Proficiency in Word and Access is required.  This candidate must have report writing capabilities and strong technology skills to develop and modify reports, downloading data to/from JD Edwards and Internet.  Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external stakeholders. Possess the ability to recommend solutions, explain company policy and practices to co-workers, managers, auditor’s etc.
