Financial and Accounting Analyst

The Financial and Accounting Analyst reports to the Senior Director of Finance (SDOF). In this position, you will provide Financial Planning and Analysis to the organization. This position will support budgeting and forecasting, reporting and analysis. In addition, you will work closely Accounting Manager (AM) on month end closing tasks as well as account reconciliations.


Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Support the Senior Director of Finance with the annual budget and the financial forecast process and related analyses.
  • Develop and maintain the system as well as budget and forecast supporting documents and reports.
  • Support departmental budgeting and forecasting meetings.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Director of Finance, work with finance and operations to implement process improvements


Reporting and Analysis

  • Produce periodic (monthly and quarterly) financial reports
  • Report and provide in-depth analysis including monthly Actuals vs Forecast/Budget, Risks and Opportunities, variance analysis and help update monthly financial reporting package to Senior Management.
  • Develop and maintain required financial models.
  • Perform periodic reviews of the budget with department leaders
  • Coordinate with finance and departments across the organization to identify, develop, and maintain new KPIs and reporting analyses.
  • Assists SDOF on material preparation and review for ARC, Finance and BOD meetings



  • Assist in month end financial closing, perform account reconciliations, analysis, and journal entries.
  • Perform review and analysis of monthly financial statement vs budget and prior periods.
  • Maintains the fixed assets module within the accounting system, recording all equipment purchases, and associated depreciation schedules.
  • Assist in preparing for annual audits and tax returns
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
  • Compiles state reports, including abandoned property and annual reports.
  • Assists SDOF on material preparation and review for Finance and BOD meetings.
  • Other ad hoc projects and duties as assigned.
  • Support the Director of OSP with projections of grant revenues and expenses the annual budget and the financial forecast process and related analyses.


  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 – 7 years’ relevant experience in accounting or financial reporting, analysis, or budgeting
  • Strong understanding of P&L, accounting and finance principles for budget planning and analysis and in reconciling data discrepancies
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and practices.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) including advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience in building financial models
  • Thorough knowledge of fundamental accounting procedures and principles
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with can-do approach and ownership.
  • Highly detail oriented and organized with a very strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with solid presentation skills
  • Project management skills to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Must be committed to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness
