About the job

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will be key contributor in building a dynamic financial organization dedicated to financial integrity and focused on supporting the growth of company. The Controller will be responsible for all internal financial reporting and SEC reporting. The Controller will ensure the financial organization delivers timely and accurate financials in accordance with GAAP, and that internal controls are properly documented and operating effectively in accordance with SOX.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

· Strong accounting and financial experience including time in Public Accounting.

· Experience with biotechnology/pharma is preferred.

· Experience with the SEC reporting and compliance issues of a public company.

· Excellent business and analytical skills with a high degree of intelligence and creativity.

· Well-rounded technical financial skills balanced with sound business judgment.

· Excellent people management and communication skills.

· Responsible for the monthly close, ensure accuracy of the balance sheet and P&L.

· Prepare quarterly SEC quarterly filings and SEC registration statements.

· Ensure local compliance with US GAAP and SEC compliance.

· Maintain and document a SOX compliant control environment.

· Ensure proper accounting treatment of new contracts (licensing and other).

· Maintain and oversee payroll, cash management, and daily accounting operations.

· Maintain stock accounting software and reporting system.

· Oversee travel expense reporting

· Establish policies and procedures.

· Optimize and automate all processes to improve efficiency.

· Prepare annual operating budget and maintain quarterly forecasts

 

Required Skills/Experiences:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, MBA a plus

· CPA certification and experience in public accounting.

· 3 years of experience post CPA working in biotech, pharma or high tech is preferred.

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

· Unquestionable integrity and personal ethics.

· Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills with GAAP and SEC.

· Creativity, flexibility and an entrepreneurial mindset. Ability to do more with less.

· Strong management skills with ability to drive accountability across the company.

· Ability to listen, negotiate, guide and facilitate.

· Hard worker and tenacious.

· Confident with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
