As a fast growing start up, The Senior HR Generalist will collaborate with the team to build the back end HR administration functions from the ground up and guide the day to day administration, coordination, and implementation of all People policies and programs. The Senior HR Generalist’s responsibilities will include researching, building up, and managing platforms and processes, coordinating with the hiring teams to evaluate candidates and administratively onboard new employees efficiently, developing policies, ensuring compliance across the organization, evaluating and administering benefits, and creating metrics to drive data informed decisions. The Senior HR Generalist will partner to ensure that we provide an excellent employee experience.

Responsibilities include:

Payroll Management: 

  • Perform all activities related to processing payroll and maintain accurate payroll records and reports within the payroll system
  • Evaluate payroll system performance and advise on new system
  • Serve as primary point of contact for third party payroll, internal finance team, and assist employees with general questions related to payroll
  • Evaluate current practices and systems to ensure compliance and advise on risk management. 

Benefits Management:

  • Oversee all benefits programs including enrollments, terminations, and changes during open enrollment. 
  • Serve as a liaison and resource between our employees and all benefits programs, answer questions, ensure employees understand benefit offerings
  • Consistently use data analytics to evaluate benefit programs usage and provide metrics and advisement to leadership
  • Evaluate current, and research new, benefits to ensure ours is competitive 

Hiring: 

  • Support Management Team and internal recruiter with the hiring process as needed to assist with job descriptions, phone screens interviews, scheduling, etc.
  • Perform new hire administrative onboarding and manage completion of all documents, updating new hire forms as needed, enrollment in appropriate programs, etc.
  • Perform and/or participate in the termination process and manage completion of all documents, termination of benefit programs, processing final payroll check and documenting all conversations related to termination, as needed

General Administration & Compliance: 

  • Research, build up, and drive the adoption of an HRIS/HCM System
  • Partner with VP, People to develop and implement a company-wide performance program and help drive adoption
  • Partner with VP, People to evaluate salary matrix and assist in standardizing and documenting compensation bands
  • Partner with VP, People to create a company-wide HR handbook 
  • Keep company up to date and compliant on new HR practices, policies, and procedures, in compliance with employment regulations and laws 
  • Promote strong DEI programs and processes 
  • Develop best practices and cohesion between People team, executives, employees, recruiting function, and hiring teams
  • Partner with VP, People to drive the our culture

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • 5+ years’ experience within the HR field
  • Experience managing a HRIS or HCM systems & facilitating the employee life-cycle
  • Experience with benefits, leaves of absence, legal compliance (COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA), and performance reviews
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve department and organizational objectives
  • Knowledgeable in federal, state, and local laws and other areas of personnel related compliance
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to handle multiple tasks at a time
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with all information and records
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, HR metrics and data analytics, and reporting
  • Ability to travel to job shops, proof of vaccination required
