Job Summary/Description:

The Payroll Specialist will oversee the payroll administration and is responsible for monitoring all tasks necessary to accomplish the organizations payroll processing objectives. The majority of the employee’s time is spent, planning, coordinating the functions of the payroll department. This position requires an extremely detail oriented person with significant knowledge of payroll administration. The Payroll Specialist administers the payroll process compiling and recording employee time and related payroll data, and performs light accounting-related tasks.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data into payroll system (Paylocity) . Typically uses automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws;
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management;
  • Year-end tax document review and reconciliation (W2 & 1095C ACA)
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws;
  • Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures;
  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductions;
  • Transfer payroll data to third-party payroll service provider;
  • Compile internal management reports from payroll system;
  • Performs various journal entries, account reconciliations, health invoice reconciliations, and provides general ledger support;
  • New withholding state tax registration and maintenance
 

Qualifications:

  • Previous payroll management preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Paylocity experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • 5+ years of specialized payroll experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting a plus
