Job Title: Senior Accountant

Position will be a mostly remote role, may be times where someone would need to come to their Boston office occasionally, but not every week.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Finance Team supporting the U.S. business.  The Senior Accountant will report to the “US Corporates” Controller and be an integral member of the US Finance Team that interfaces with the Shared Service Accounting Team, Global Finance and the US Corporates Business Team.  This is a hands-on role and will be responsible for core accounting tasks, including month-end closing, general ledger reconciliations, general ledger entries, financial reporting and analysis, cash projections and intercompany transaction postings and reconciliations.  The core areas of accounting responsibility are revenue and deferred revenue, cost of sales and intercompany transactions.  This position has lots of opportunity for growth as well as a broad view of all balance sheet and income statement activity across the US business

  • Responsible for preparation of monthly accounting entries and reconciliations for US related to revenue, deferred revenue, cost of sales and intercompany transactions.   Perform analysis of recorded revenue and cost of sales for completeness and reasonableness vs prior month and budget/forecast.  

  • Coordinate with A/R Collections manager on monthly bad debt charge-off entries and bad debt reserve adjustments.  Post entries and reconcile corresponding accounts.

  • Work with Controller and Revenue Manager on monthly revenue analysis.  Present and review revenue analysis with US Corporate leadership team.

  • Prepare monthly cash flow analysis and forecast.

  • Manage semi-monthly (and some ad-hoc) payment cycles of affiliate vendor invoices.   Arrange funding for payments, including multi-currency payments. 

  • Assist the finance team with budget and forecasting deliverables

  • Prepare comprehensive responses to management's inquiries.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement variance analyses.

  • Regularly interact with Shared Service Finance team performing client billing and processing affiliate vendor  expenses (Cost of Sales).  Utilize and/or request reporting necessary for accrual or other entries and analysis/research.

  • Respond to monthly and ad-hoc inquiries/request from the Global Controller’s team

  • Research and resolve complex reconciling issues and discrepancies; take corrective measures to prevent unreconciled balances in the future.

  • Prepare schedules and analysis requested for annual financial statement audit and year-end corporate tax filings

  • Document and improve current processes.

  • Assist in special projects and department initiatives as assigned.

  • Demonstrates initiative and strives to implement continuous improvement in the work performed by the senior accountant and across the Accounting team. 

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities with deadlines, without sacrificing quality.  Manages time effectively

  • Superior analytical skills with a strong aptitude to understand the business and its operations

  • Must possess a strong knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP, IFRS and Sarbanes-Oxley

  • Working knowledge of accounting for foreign currency transactions

  • Advanced Excel and MS Office highly desired

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

  • 2-4 years of work experience in Corporate Accounting position and/or Audit/Assurance position with a CPA firm
