Coordinates and monitors employee medical leaves of absence, supports the employee health and wellness program and ensures regulatory compliance
The Health Services Specialist is responsible for assisting employees when they are off of work or at risk of being off work for health reasons. This role includes the monitoring of active and transitional medical leaves and the ability to assess any barriers to a successful and timely return-to-work. Additional responsibilities include working with the employee health and wellness team in organizing and assisting in wellness events as needed. The Health Services Specialist will need to work in collaboration with others to ensure regulatory compliance of the ADA, FAA and DOT laws and regulations.
Your responsibilities include:
Conduct case assessments, contacting the employee and their direct manager by telephone to explain the medical leave management process and gather information for assessment purposes.
Coordinate and monitor the transitional leave/duty status.
Provide active support for the return-to work planning process between the leave administrator, employee and their supervisor and intervene when necessary.
Communicate proactively with the employer’s HR representative and management regarding any case management issues that may impact the workplace and RTW planning.
Coordinate and ensure regulatory compliance of ADA, FAA and DOT laws and regulations governing health and safety of personnel.
Assist in the coordination of worker’s compensation cases.
Assist in coordination of COVID-19 related case management, vaccination verification and medical exemptions.
Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety to support safety related programs.
Other projects and tasks as assigned.
The Health Services Specialist in this role needs strong interpersonal skills, along with superior assessment and problem solving skills. The appropriate medical knowledge is required, along with decision making skills. The individual in this role needs to be highly organized, effective at managing her/his time, and be skilled in the use of computers including strong keyboard skills.
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
-Occupational Health, Disability Case Management or Managed Care experience preferred
