Info on role: Newly created position reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer. Position will manage a team of 3-4 people in the technical accounting group. Company was recently acquired by a leading PE firm and looking to hire someone with strong technical accounting and SEC reporting experience who can help them become "public company ready".  The company is doing great financially and they are growing organically and through M&A.  This person will own the technical accounting, reporting, compliance and M&A accounting activities as well as SEC 10K/10Q reporting if they do go public. Very exciting times ahead for the company and opportunity for growth.

Job Description:

Director, Technical Accounting and Reporting

As a highly visible role, reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Director, Technical Accounting and Reporting will play a critical role in all accounting compliance related matters, including governance and controls, as well as internal and external reporting and technical accounting. We are looking for someone who has a proven ability to thrive successfully in a fast paced, multi-task-oriented environment.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of global financial information in compliance with US GAAP and local statutory accounting policies, and for all technical and complex accounting policies and guidelines. 

  • Lead the implementation of new accounting and reporting standards, collaborating with the Controller to ensure practical implementation.

  • Ensure data integrity in all financial reporting. Perform ongoing financial analysis to detect and resolve problems.

  • Create and implement sound financial internal control policies to establish operational efficiency and monitor adherence to them.  Communicate results of compliance activities to corporate process owners and leadership.  Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify improvement opportunities.  

  • Critical team member for global transformation of internal financial and accounting systems. Recommend improvements or changes. 

  • Collaborate with Accounting team to ensure proper accounting treatment of complex accounting concepts.

  • Lead the external audit process.

  • Active participation in the due diligence process of potential acquisitions including reviewing the financial and tax data of targets and concluding on the accounting treatment.  Responsible for leading the accounting and reporting integration for all business combinations.

  • Lead, develop and mentor a dedicated team of four or more.

  • Oversee compilation, reporting and analysis of ad-hoc accounting reports.

  • Responsible for special projects initiated by senior management.


In order to be successful in this role, we are looking for:

  • 10-15 years of experience, including at a Big Four public accounting firm.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA is required.

  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SOX 404 and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with technical research

  • Strategic leadership capability, strong organizational awareness, sound judgment, strong business acumen and ability to make decisions with input from multiple stakeholders.

  • A proactive approach to problem identification and remediation solutions with attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact and build relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to lead, provide guidance and build technical expertise across the team.

  • Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
