The Buyer role will be an integral member of the Finance team.  This individual will manage procurement activity regarding the review and conversion of requisitions to purchase orders for all departments.  A successful candidate must have strong analytical capabilities, be a self-starter, have procurement experience within the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to resolve procure-to-pay issues. The candidate will be a creative problem solver, have excellent communication skills and be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service. This position reports to the Associate Director Procurement.

Responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Review purchase requisitions and convert them to purchase orders ensuring data accuracy
  • Negotiate with suppliers for discounts and cost avoidance
  • Track material orders to delivery and resolve any issues providing updates to requesters
  • Perform data analysis on supplier spend and recommend cost saving proposals
  • Conduct employee training on Procurement process and iProcurement requisition system
  • Assist with corporate RFP process- supplier sourcing, facilitating bids, and bid analysis
  • Manages material ordering for the Procurement team
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable and internal customers to resolve procure-to-pay issues
  • Maintain and promote strong relationships with internal and external customers
  • Makes improvements to processes and tools to enhance productivity and lower costs
  • Contribute continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support ongoing vendor relations

Requirements:

  • 5 years of procurement related experience in Biotech or Pharma Industries
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem solving skills are a must
  • Experience working with Oracle R12 and iProcurement
  • Intermediate Excel Skills – Pivot tables, Vlookup, etc.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting, internal controls, and SOX principles

Preferred:

  • Experience in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment a plus
  • CPIM/CPM certification a plus

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience required
