Job Location: Onsite 3 days per week, remote 2 days per week (after training)

Address – Dearborn Michigan  ( suburb of Detroit, Rt 94 and Rt 96 ; free parking)

candidates will be on a weekly schedule:
Monday – Friday (40 hours) 3 days in office, 2 days remote

Job Description:

Responsible for purchasing materials, equipment, supplies, and services in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures. Efficiently sources products and services that meet safety, specification, budget, quality, and delivery requirements while meeting department and corporate objectives and goals.

  • Collaborates with internal personnel and departments to understand needs, intended products and services usage, develops specifications for purchases.
  • Manages supply base
    • Qualifies new suppliers
    • Assists with consolidation of approved supplier list
    • Holds suppliers accountable to performance standards ensuring they provide quality products and services
    • Ensures that suppliers adhere to Company safety protocols and practices
  • Establishes excellent working relationships with suppliers, internal/external customers, and management
  • Manages the request for quotation (RFQ) process
  • Evaluates quotes and proposals, selects qualified suppliers, and awards contracts
  • Negotiates pricing agreements, final terms/conditions, and payment terms
  • Creates purchase orders, manages contracts and blanket POs in Oracle
  • Drives efficiency initiatives by implementing automation to the purchasing process
  • Participates in cross functional teams
  • Establishes and utilizes LEAN practices
  • Identifies costs savings and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Performs other duties and projects assigned by the Purchasing Manager

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of purchasing experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience in working with procurement/ERP systems (Oracle knowledge a plus)
  • Project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
