Employee Relations Specialist

Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist
Duties:
Leads a broad range of Employee Relations initiatives and services by proactively developing and implementing policies, programs and procedures related to Human Resources and the business needs of the organization.
Oversees compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Affirmative Action (AA)/Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), and various other federal, state, and local regulations.
Supports the development, monitoring, and auditing of HR processes related to recruitment, personnel files and data entry.
Conducts audits of various HR files to ensure documentation enclosed is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Collaborates with relevant HR departments and staff to ensure the maintenance of appropriate documentation.
Educates and trains HR staff on EEO/Diversity policies and procedures.
Compiles statistics on applicant flow, hiring, terminations, promotions, salaries, training, transfers, and other EEO-related data to monitor effectiveness of EEO/Diversity programs.
Presents statistical reports to management, offering suggestions for resolving potential issues.
Maintains ownership of HR employee relations business processes. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) with internal controls.
Responds to inquiries from federal and/or state compliance agencies for investigations and/or resolution of claims (OFCCP, EEO, AA, OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Maintains federal and state compliance on all HR issues, including annual EEO-1 Report, qualified plan testing and all state mandates.
Assists in the development of Affirmative Action Plan(AAP).
Consults with HR staff and relevant company employees on all types of internal discrimination complaints.
Develops reports for submission to various regulatory agencies.
Reviews HR training related to EEO considerations, various types of discrimination and/or sexual harassment, to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. 

Skills:
Excellent understanding of HR practices and employee relations.
Excellent oral and written communication, organization, presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong PC skills, especially with Microsoft Office Suite of products.
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, including the ability to perform root cause analysis.
Ability to work both independently and in a team.
Ability to handle multiple deadline-driven responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to present data in a compelling manner in order to influence others.
Ability to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information viewed

Occupational Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day.
Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. 
Frequently walks.
Occasionally bends and twists neck.
Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 30 lbs.
Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States.
Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in HR or related field.

PHR Certification preferred.
Requires 5 years of HR experience that includes at least 3 years of handling related employee relations issues.
