Financial Analysis Manager- Marlborough

 

Must Have:

Summary/Objective:

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the financial analysis function which include:  Asset Liability Management (ALM) analytics, loan participation operations, data analytics development, development of financial analysis efficiencies, profitability modeling, economic scenario and stress testing, interest rate and liquidity risk analytics, and associated regulatory compliance support.  Provide supervisory leadership to the financial analysis team including recruitment and orientation of new staff, performance management and professional development. The position also include a multitude of finance activities and ensure that all required deadlines are met.

  • Exercise administrative judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on the department.

  • Exercise and develop Credit Union policies, procedures and controls related to the department.

  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop proper internal controls, more efficient procedures, and use of resources, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and completeness.

  • Ensure staffs are cross-trained and properly aligned with responsibilities. Mentor and develop the staff work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective team dynamic.

  • Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of all staffs.

  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the preparation of internal and external reporting requirements, assigned analysis, and projects.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Credit Union departments.

  • Supervise, train and evaluate personnel and advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

  • Peform other job-related duties as assigned by the management team

  • Manages the daily operations of the financial analyst team members.

  • Provide supervisory guidance to the financial analysis team which includes: recruitment and orientation of new staff, ongoing staff education and performance management.  Continuously develop analytical capability of the team to provide insightful and relevant recommendations to drive business decision making. 

  • Prepares and analyzes complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes.

  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives.

  • Monitor key performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance

  • Responsible for the ALM model, assumptions, and reports.

  • Responsible for the loan participation operation and alignment of strategies to those of the Credit Union's asset and liability management goals.

  • Provides robust statistical analytics to support portfolio modeling, member behavior, pricing sensitivity, pricing studies.

  • Monitor new and/or proposed accounting guidelines, processes and procedures and provide guidance to management on potential affect of changes.

  • Prepare presentations to Board of Directors and Senior Management Team

  • Be innovative in collaborating with other departments to develop effective financial data and reports from various systems.

  • Initiates, develops and maintains financial and operational accounting efficiencies.

  • Serves as liaison to other areas of the credit union to explain to them accounting/finance transactions, reporting requirements and/or any accounting/finance discrepancies.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).

Job Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related work experience.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Manages a team of Senior Financial Analysts and the Finance team.

 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier/scanner, filing cabinets, and fax machines.  The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the direction of management and, while generally as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required. Hours of Work: Generally 8:00 – 5:00 PM as scheduled by management with 1 HR. LUNCH. Overtime may be scheduled as needed and directed by management. Days of Work: Normally – MONDAY – FRIDAY as scheduled by management and SATURDAY, SUNDAY & HOLIDAYS if needed by operations and approved by management.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  This is a largely sedentary role.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms.
