What You’ll Be Working On-
- Have complete responsibility/ownership of US and Canada bi-weekly payroll runs and ensuring the timely submission of data to ADP
- Complete all aspects of US and Canada payroll processing from employee maintenance, time entry and payroll submission, along with auditing it for accuracy once files are returned
- Receive and load the US and Canada biweekly payroll files once the files have been returned from ADP
- Prepare journal entries and accounting transactions for both US and Canada in accordance with GAAP and company policy. Maintain the appropriate level of documentation and support for these entries.
- Closing out and importing of Oracle timesheets on a biweekly basis for US and Canada payrolls
- Ability to contact ADP and/or third party vendors should issues arise with the payroll and work with them to troubleshoot and correct the issues
- Reconcile the biweekly payroll against the ADP payroll registers for accuracy and notes any discrepancies
- Issue manual hand checks upon requests for employees
- Research payroll issues and provides a resolution to issues and communicates resolution to stakeholders in a timely manner while maintaining a high level of customer service
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations as directed by supervisor. Ensures reconciling items are cleared timely
- Data entry of W-4 tax changes, Direct Deposit information, garnishments, stock options and other payroll related input
- Process payroll for a few international payrolls using ADP and/or third party vendors with assistance from supervisor
- Assist the payroll supervisor in semi-annual and annual SOX audits, by providing requested documentation to Internal Auditing and external auditors
- Provide assistance in Year-end processing for US and Canada payrolls
- Be the payroll backup for the supervisor on all payroll processes/information when the supervisor is not available
- Escalate and communicate any issues that can’t be resolved to supervisor or next level if supervisor is not available for assistance
- Assist supervisor in any/all payroll projects that may arise
- Maintain a customer service focused relationship with other departments within the organization and with outside vendors
- Other miscellaneous payroll related items
What You’ll Need-
- Associates Degree in Business, and/or successful completion of job-related certificate program preferred
- 2+ years of progressive payroll experience in a similar role
- Experience with Payroll and HRIS Systems (ADP Payforce, ADP PCPW, ADP Connection, ADP General Ledger and Oracle, preferred)
- Experience processing a payroll for at least 1,200 employees biweekly
- Must have a good understanding of the IRS and state laws and regulations related to payroll, benefits, payroll taxes and other related items
- Demonstrates strong customer service, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills
- Aptitude to learn payroll processing for international payrolls
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
