Job Location: Needham, MA. Everyone is currently WFH unless they want to go into the office. They do not have plans to truly reopen the office at this time. They will be hiring virtually and training virtually (unless someone wants to go in for onboarding). They do plan to reopen the office eventually however will keep some WFH flexibility.

This role is responsible for the Company’s corporate accounting policies and select compliance matters, technical accounting research, drafting technical accounting memoranda associated with complex transactions, preparing the consolidated and statutory financial statements, among others.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures on a timely and accurate basis
  • Prepare BS and P&L variance analysis (actual vs budget and PY) as part of monthly financial reporting deliverables
  • Prepare and review select balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data while assisting in the preparation of financial reports and statements
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
  • Assist with unclaimed property recording, reconciliation and compliance.
  • Assist and complete various compliance matters, such as company census reports
  • Collaborate with the Controllership team on recording and reconciliation of technical accounting transactions
  • Assist in preparation of memorandums regarding the Company’s technical accounting positions for review by upper financial management and external auditors including but not limited to revenue recognition, mergers and acquisitions, debt, and equity transactions
  • Write and ensure effective and practical implementation of corporate policies
  • Maintain records of accounting policies and procedures
  • Analyze revenue and other financial information for the purpose of identifying and resolving technical accounting and reporting issues
  • Lead the accounting for stock-based compensation including share reconciliation expense calculation and stock share count
  • Assist with technical and financial reporting aspects of the external audit
  • Assist with preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to senior management, Board of Directors and other external 3rd parties
  • Assist with special projects designed to implement and improve processes and to facilitate change
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Requirements

  • CPA plus Bachelor’s or higher degree required (Accounting or Finance related)
  • Minimum of 8 years in finance and accounting experience in public accounting and private industry
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Proven experience in making process improvements
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • A solid knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite and/or Blackline experience a plus)
  • Above average skills with all MS Office Suite tools
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and multitask to achieve goals in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively cross-functionally and with all levels of employees, management, and external advisors
  • Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Desire to coach and develop the skill sets of others
  • Ability to inspire trust and maintain good relationships
  • Possess an intellectual curiosity and analytical problem solving abilities
